John C. Lawrence Memorial Scholarship “Buddy of the Year” Award

 

Scholarship Information:
  • The scholarship was established in memory of John C. Lawrence to encourage and support individuals that exhibit some of his characteristics.
  • An individual that has exhibited outstanding maturity, leadership, compassion, kindness and friendship towards the buddy and all members of the group. An individual that has truly exhibited what it means to be a friend.
Criteria:
  • Either a graduating high school senior member of team, band or group OR a member of a college team, band or group that has “adopted” a buddy during the school year.
  • Individual has intentions of attending (or is attending) school the following year through 2 or 4 year college, trade, vocational, or apprenticeship programs.
Application Process:
  • Email (to muddy’sbuddies@gmail.com) from coach, player, parent, buddy identifying and nominating the individual based on the criteria mentioned above.
  • Deadline April 15th.
Number and size of the Awards:
  • Two Awards Annually: One male and one female each school year
  • Two awards of $500 each
Allowed Use of the Award:
  • Awards may be used for tuition, fees, books, and other educational expenses.
  • This is a one-time award and is not renewable.
Scholarship Selection Process:
  • Muddy’s Buddies board members will review application and select recipient.
Award Announcement and Payment:
  • An award letter is sent to the recipient and/or high school outlining instructions for receiving the award.
